40 Days for Life Campaign Builds on Local Successes

40 Days for Life, a peaceful, non-denominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigils at abortion facilities and grassroots educational outreach, begins on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and continues through Sunday, Nov. 6.

Prayer vigil participants are asked to sign a statement of peace, pledging to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout biblical history.

“On September 28, the highly successful 40 Days for Life campaign returns to Goshen with 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil and community outreach,” said Kathy Taylor, the coordinator of the local campaign.

“We pray that these efforts will help mark the beginning of the end of abortion in Goshen. We know 40 Days for Life has made a difference here. Our volunteers have made extraordinary sacrifices to expose the abortion industry and to protect children and their mothers from abortion.”

Shawn Carney, the national campaign director of 40 Days for Life, said numerous cities have reported a significant drop in abortions. “Some 75 abortion facilities have closed following 40 Days for Life efforts,” he said. “New volunteers got active in local pro-life efforts. Churches across denominations worked together to work for an end to abortion in their cities. Many post-abortive women began programs to heal from the pain caused by previous abortion experiences.”
