Father Brian Taylor Appointed to Vatican Congregation

At the request of the Holy See, Cardinal Timothy Dolan has released a priest of the archdiocese, Father Brian Taylor, for a five-year appointment at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican.

Father Taylor was ordained in 2006, after formation at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie. Four years ago, the cardinal assigned him for doctoral studies in canon law in Rome, which he has successfully completed.

“It’s a sacrifice to release a priest of Father Taylor’s competency, when the need is great here at home. However, to have a priest serve the universal needs of the Church under the direction of the Holy Father is a blessing,” the cardinal observed.

Another priest of the archdiocese, Msgr. Luke Sweeney, is in service to the Apostolic See at the Congregation for Bishops. His five-year term concludes in September, and he will return to the archdiocese for a new assignment.
