The Forums for Catechesis and Youth Ministry will have a theme of “Come and See—Ven y Ve” when they are held at Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx, Saturday, Oct. 5, and at Sacred Heart parish in Monroe, Saturday, Oct. 26.
Retired Auxiliary Bishop Gerald Walsh will celebrate Mass at both sites at 8:45 a.m., which will be followed by the English- and Spanish-speaking workshops at Cardinal Spellman from 10:20 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and at Sacred Heart from 10:10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Two keynote speakers will address the forum at Cardinal Spellman. Father Anthony Ciorra will deliver the English keynote speech. Father Ciorra is the vice president for mission and Catholic identity, and professor of theology and Catholic studies at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.
Father Joseph Espaillat, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua parish in the Bronx, will give the Spanish keynote speech. Father Espaillat is the director of archdiocesan Hispanic Charismatic Renewal.
The day is being offered to catechists, religious education leaders, youth ministers and all interested adults as a day of inspiration to enrich the religious education of children and youth. Catechists will add depth and dimension to their religious education classes by attending the workshops and will have their vocations as catechists to children, youth and high school students reinforced by participating in the forum.
Registration is $20 per person. Visit https://nyfaithformation.org to register and for a complete schedule at each site.
The Catechetical Office also will sponsor Family Catechesis Pray and Play Day at The Pallotine Center in Monroe Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Mass is scheduled at 4 p.m.
