Inspiring Article

I want to thank Catholic New York and reporter Dan Pietrafesa for the inspiring and excellent article and photo coverage you gave to The University of Notre Dame on their service projects and Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral before the football game between Notre Dame and Syracuse at Yankee Stadium.

Pietrafesa’s article captured the essence of Our Lady’s University, especially when he wrote about the 400 boxes of food packed and prepared by Notre Dame alumni and friends for people in need in the South Bronx Nov. 16. The day before, Notre Dame alumni and friends gathered for a prayer service in St. Peter’s Church in Lower Manhattan. After the service, they walked in a “driving snow storm” to The World Trade Center Memorial, where they placed roses on the names engraved in the memorial of Notre Dame alumni and friends killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. Finally, the photo of the ND trumpeters in the choir loft at Saturday morning Mass at St. Patrick’s was so moving and inspirational.

The fact that Notre Dame beat Syracuse in the football game was just another source of pride for all of us who admire Our Lady’s University, on and off the football field. Go Irish!
