Senior Orin Williams scored two goals off free kicks as Sacred Heart High School of Yonkers defeated Cristo Rey High School of Manhattan, 2-0, for the CHSAA Intersectional Division B boys soccer championship at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island Nov. 14.

“The championship game was played to perfection by the team,” said Sacred Heart coach Matthew Brauer. “The defense was strong and the play of the overall team led to the 2-0 win. It was a total team effort by everyone. The coaches devised a game plan and the team executed it to perfection.”

Senior Moises Salinas stopped seven shots on goal for Sacred Heart.

“Looking back at the season, we started a month later than usual due to Covid-19 and the team sensed that we would have a great season based on the returning players and the success of the previous year,” Brauer said. “Everyone was committed and the team came together right away. This led to the success of the team, which had an 8-1 record and the school's third championship in the last six years.”
