Sister Agnes Shaw, I.H.M.

Sister Agnes Shaw, I.H.M., who taught in Manhattan for eight years, died Oct. 26 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. She was 88.

In Manhattan, Sister Agnes served at St. Stephen School, 1967-1970, and St. Alphonsus, 1962-1967. She also served in Binghamton, Endicott, Port Washington, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Born in Waverly, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1950 and professed final vows in 1956.

She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in elementary education, from Marywood College in Scranton, Pa.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 31 in the Epiphany Church, Sayre, Pa. Burial was in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa.
