Sister Ann Louise DeGennaro, O.P., who served as director and administrator of St. Ignatius Day Nursery in Manhattan for 10 years ending in 1980, died March 31 in Siena Hall at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 102.

Sister Ann Louise also served at St. Ignatius for two years ending in 1944. She taught at St. Theresa School, the Bronx, 1967-1969; and Cardinal McCloskey Home and School for Children, White Plains, 1946-1948.

She was principal in Fulton, 1969-1970, where she taught, 1941-1942. She also taught in Norwich, 1944-1946, and Woodside, Queens, 1948-1967.

She was a staff member at Siena Hall from 1980 to 1988, and continued to volunteer at Dominican Convent until 2011.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1939 and made final vows in 1946. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from St. John’s University.

Burial took place April 3 at St. Agnes Convent Cemetery in Sparkill. A Memorial Mass will take place at a later date.
