Sister Beatrice Carvalho, M.M., who served in Guatemala for 12 years, died Jan. 10 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Ossining. She was 96.
Sister Beatrice did pastoral work and taught religious education in Guatemala, 1986-1995 and 1998-2001. She also served at Maryknoll, and in Illinois, California, Hawaii, Nicaragua, Panama and Mexico.
Born in Hawi, Hawaii, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1944 and professed final vows in 1950.
Her Funeral Mass was livestreamed Jan. 15 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Burial was in Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery, Ossining.
