Sister Eileen Tierney, O.P., who served at St. Dominic’s School in Blauvelt for 39 years, died Oct. 28 at Nyack Hospital. She was 92.
Sister Eileen served at St. Dominic’s School as a teacher, librarian and audio/visual coordinator, 1974-2012 and 1948-1949. She also taught at St. Luke’s School, the Bronx, 1967-1972; St. Martin de Porres School,
Poughkeepsie, 1966-1967; St. Pius School, the Bronx, 1961-1966; and Holy Cross School, Manhattan, 1949-1955.
Sister Eileen worked in the congregation’s archives office, 2012-2018, and as director of institutional research and planning at Dominican College, Orangeburg, 1972-1974. She also served in Rhode Island.
Born in the Bronx, she entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt in 1946 and professed final vows in 1951.
A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 5 in St. Dominic’s Convent, Blauvelt. Burial was in St. Dominic’s Convent Cemetery, Blauvelt.
