Sister Lucy Sabatini, O.S.F.

Sister Lucy Sabatini, O.S.F., of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, who served as administrator of Nazareth Nursery in Manhattan for 32 years, died Aug. 9 at The Wartburg Skilled Care Facility in Mount Vernon. She was 91.

Sister Lucy served at Nazareth Nursery, 1981-2013.

She was principal of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Poughkeepsie, 1975-1981, and St. Catharine, Pelham, 1971-1975. She taught at St. Clare Academy, Hastings-on-Hudson, 1965-1971 and 1949-1950; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pelham Manor, 1964-1965; St. Aloysius, Staten Island, 1957-1961; and Immaculate Conception, Tuckahoe, 1950-1957.

She also served as director of the archdiocese’s Good Shepherd Program for Young Children.

Born in Vasto, Italy, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis in Hastings-on-Hudson in 1948 and professed final vows in 1953.

Her brother, Nicholas Sabatini, survives her.

A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a future date. Burial will also take place at a later date at Mount Loretto, Staten Island.
