Sister Margaret Keogan, R.D.C., who taught at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Elmsford for more than 50 years, died April 28. She was 87.

Sister Margaret began teaching at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in 1962. She previously taught at St. Bernard School, White Plains.

Born in New York City, she was a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in White Plains. She entered the Sisters of the Divine Compassion in 1950 and professed final vows in 1956.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Good Counsel College, White Plains.

Her sister, Patricia Almstead, survives her.

Burial was private. A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
