Sister Marian Cumiskey, R.S.M.

Sister Marian Cumiskey, R.S.M., who served as a teacher and principal in the archdiocese, died Oct. 19 at McAuley Hall in Watchung, N.J. She was 91.

She was principal at Transfiguration School, Tarrytown, 1975-1976 and 1960-1969, when she also taught eighth grade. She earlier taught in Manhattan at St. Catherine of Genoa, Good Shepherd and Commander Shea Memorial, and in Rouses Point in the Diocese of Ogdensburg.

She also served for many years as a speech pathology instructor at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1948 and professed final vows in 1953. She held a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and a master’s from the College of St. Rose, Albany.

A memorial service was offered Oct. 23 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, where burial took place.
