Sister Patricia Alice Noble, M.M.

Sister Patricia Alice Noble, M.M., who was a missioner to Hawaii and the Philippines, died April 4 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 95. 

Her first mission assignment was to Hawaii. She taught at an elementary school in Honolulu, 1950-1954, and at a high school in Punahou, 1954-1956. 

In 1956, she was assigned to the Philippines where she taught English at Maryknoll College in Quezon City for four years. She returned to the Philippines to teach English and history, 1962-1964.

At the Maryknoll Sisters Center, she taught English at Mary Rogers College until 1969. For the next decade, she provided congregational services, housekeeping and data processing. In 1980, she was appointed administrator of the Maryknoll Sisters library.

In 1988, she retired to the Maryknoll Sisters residence in Monrovia, Calif. In 2006, she returned to the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining to work in the photo library. 

A native of Erie, Pa., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters novitiate in 1948 and made final vows in 1953. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Villa Maria College in Erie, and later earned master’s degrees in English and philosophy from St. Louis University and library and information science from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

A Memorial Mass will be planned for a later date.
