Sister Patrick Cunningham, R.S.H.M.

Sister Patrick Cunningham, R.S.H.M., who served for 23 years at New York Hospital in Manhattan, died Sept. 12 at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 86.

Sister Patrick was a nurse at New York Hospital, 1980-2003, working in the cardio-pulmonary unit, cardiac intensive care unit and the recovery room. She also served as a nurse at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, 1978-1980, and Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital, Manhattan, 1973-1978.

She taught and later was principal at Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Manhattan, 1958-1969. She also taught in Brooklyn and Sag Harbor.

Born in Queens, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1950 and professed final vows in 1958. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Marymount College, Tarrytown, and a master’s in nursing from New York Medical College, Valhalla.

Her sister, Sister Theresa Cunningham, R.S.H.M., and her brother, Thomas Cunningham, survive her.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 17 in Marymount Convent. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
