Sister Regina Mahoney, O.P., who taught for 36 years at St. Benedict’s School in the Bronx, died March 5 in the St. Martin de Porres Community at the motherhouse in Blauvelt. She was 90.
Sister Regina taught at St. Benedict’s, 1974-2010. She also taught at two other Bronx schools, Holy Spirit, 1971-1974, and St. Mary Star of the Sea, 1969-1971.
She was a group mother at St. Dominic’s House, Blauvelt, 1951-1969.
Born in the Bronx, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in 1949 and made final vows in 1953. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Fordham University.
Her sister, Sister Theresa Mahoney, O.S.C.O., survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered March 12 at St. Dominic’s Convent, Blauvelt. Burial was in St. Dominic Cemetery, Blauvelt.
