Sister Rose Christopher McKeegan, M.M., who served in Bolivia for 55 years, died April 2 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Maryknoll. She was 89.

Sister Rose Christopher was in Bolivia, 1982-2016 and 1959-1980, serving as a teacher, principal, coordinator of religious education, regional governing board area coordinator, regional bookkeeper and initiator of first Girl Scouts program in Cochabamba, serving as president, 1973-1980. She served in congregational services at Maryknoll, 1980-1982, and retired to the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining in 2016.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1950 and professed final vows in 1959. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Maryknoll Teachers College, Ossining.

Her sister, Elizabeth, survives her.

She was cremated and her cremains were interred April 4 in Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery, Ossining. A Memorial Mass will be planned for a later date.
