Sister Teresa Paul Heinke, O.P., a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hope who served at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh for 30 years, died Feb. 24 at Brandywine Senior Living Home in Wall, N.J. She was 94.

At Mount St. Mary, Sister Teresa Paul served as a member of the board of trustees, 1975-2000; a member of the executive committee, 1984-1999; and as director of admissions, 1967-1972. She taught at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Poughkeepsie, 1963-1965; Nativity School, the Bronx, 1955-1956; and St. Patrick School, Newburgh, 1950-1952. She was principal of Our Lady of Victory School, Mount Vernon, 1952-1955.

She also served in Connecticut and New Jersey.

Born in Queens, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh in 1949 and professed final vows in 1953. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business education from Columbia University, and a master’s in counseling from Siena College, Loudonville.

Her sister, Virginia Peters, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 4 in Most Holy Rosary Chapel on the Mount St. Mary College campus. Burial was in Dominican Sisters of Hope Cemetery, Newburgh.
