Seventh-graders from St. Joseph’s School in the Yorkville section of Manhattan participated with a celebrity panel for one of the nation’s first TEDx events at a kindergarten through eighth grade school Oct. 19.

The nine students and a guest panel of WPIX reporter Monica Morales, former New York Knick John Wallace and neuroscientist and author Shonte Jovan Taylor shared the stage, speeches and ideas at St. Joseph’s School.

TEDx is a local, self-organized event under the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Conference where videos and live talks result in deep discussion and connections.

“I really can’t believe it,” said seventh-grader Eamonn Kennedy. “To be a small part of a global TEDx conversation and contribute our ideas in a positive way is a big deal.”
